i found no serious tai chi teacher yet.
they either want 100 kuai for a class (right...) or wake up too early in the mornning.
the truth is, it is very hard to find a teacher who will nice pushing hands .
;
i'm sure they exist in Hong Kong and Beijing.
unfortunatly for the chinese people, it seems that 99% of the tai chi practiitonaries are people that went to pension long ago...  it is very nice, but not very martial.
my guess is that the young generation will wake up after he will be modernized. a bit like in israel (no?) . i just do tai chi myself, in the room or outside in the morning (when i dO wake up.)
as to what chinese people say when they hear that i use to teach tai chi: well, it is the same reaction as to when i do a mistake in chinese- laughter.
a laowai will teach tai chi? how can it be?! can a chinese make a good falafel? with tahina and salad? and good humus too?!?!    ?!
and for a nice quote. i have one of the best, i think:

"I was born upon the prairie where the wind blew free and there was nothing to break the light of the sun. I was born where there were no enclosures and where everything drew a free breath. I want to die there and not within walls."

Bruce Li used to say: the best fight is fight without fighting.

The other day, He and I practiced gongfu together. We said that we should have a fight, just for having a fun. The winner is the one whose fist hit the head of the other first, symbolically of course. I started to move, to look for my chance to attack. To my surprise, my friend stood there without moving, and covered his head with his two hands. I asked my competitor: what are you doing? the response I got was: I am protecting my head, because you are going to hit my head. I could not understand what was going on, asked again: are you going to fight with me this way? The answer came from my darling friend who still covering his head was simple and determined: yes! I burst to laughter and fell on the ground. I lost the fight, because I could not stop my laughter. My wise friend won the fight without doing anything!.

Gili!!!

Three years ago, we talked about Bruce Lis teaching-the best fight is without fighting. I am still trying to understand him, have no conclusion. I am just wondering here, that dont we need to be mindless in order to be mindfulness? In the realm of Gongfu, they use to say that the highest level is to be 無我, I felt it rarely, but I felt sometimes, do you? Another question, do you feel the difference  between to act and to react when you in practice?

hi lin, i'm happy to be back and to see the forum is still going on...
actually i still checking that but the teaching of j. krishnamurti, for me i understand it as the pure buddhism thinking...
but for your question, it is about listening, mindfulness, quietness, that allow you as a person, and as a warrior to know what will be just before it happenned, just before the attack is coming, this level is the highest , than no need to be the fastest, the strongest, etc...
but i still check it...still a long way to go
have a great practice

As we discussed yesterday, there are two different silences. A silence of locking of life energy, of being bored! And there is an extraordinary beautiful silence, silence of being alive totally and joyfully! This kind of silence will build the bridge between your body and your soul! Watch the second before every moment of him; can you sense the extraordinary silence and stillness?
